Better the devil you know, than the devil you don’t
Remember those odd, sometimes funny sayings you remember your parents sayings. Well this was one of them.
In relation to the transition diet within the context of the Mucusless Diet Healing System, this opens up perspective on the areas of;
- What the are the poor foods1 that you crave?
- What behaviors and specific feelings arising before a craving of a food item?
Last week was a crazy roller coaster of a ride, starting the week on a high and ending at a low, eating buffet foods of fried, doughy and cake textures as well as bowls of wheat cereal. Knowing full well of the craving but making a choice to divulge and ride it out.
On a transition perspective, what can I learn from this? And how can I stir towards more mucusless and mucus-lean food options for this coming week?
- Foods I craved particularly were the sweet/artificial sugary food items particularly the cakes and biscuits. I actually made a blueberry lemon almond cake that was tasty and used almond flour in replacement of white flour, and chia seeds in replacement of eggs (that was something new I learnt – yey no more eggs needed to bake!)
- At the buffet I could have stopped at dish 1 and to be honest, I didn’t need to pay £15 ! for the meal, when I had even brought along my own food. But feelings of social exclusion had arisen and had created a mental construct that allowed my mucus-free guard (ha!) to fall down. There were mucus-lean options at the buffet like the salad bar & seafood such as algae (delicious) as well as vegetarian options that I had.
Reflecting transitionally, I am doing much better than the previous year that is for sure! This process should be slow and gradual to ensure for best results in the future both for myself & my future children. Gradually, one by one, weeding out the mucus food addiction’s I have (it really is an addiction trying to give up these types of food items).
What would help me this following week would be if I wrote out a list of mucus-form food items I eat, and draw a line at which foods must go and others that will serve as mucus-lean to help me get off the worse types of food.
So maybe the saying should go
Better the mucus you know, than the mucus you don’t
1 Poor foods are foods that would be mucus-forming, acid & pus producing, irritating to the body’s digestion tract and organs throughout
